Industrial Millwright Mechanic

INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC MILLWRIGHT

Responsibilities:

The individual selected for this position will complete preventative and corrective maintenance procedures on site equipment and structures and complete project work including simple machining and fabrication. Ideal candidates must have the ability to install, troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment, as well as dismantle, overhaul, and re-assemble while adhering to all Health and Safety policies. Selected candidates will also keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed as well as parts and materials used and ordered as necessary. Applicants should have a strong work ethic with a positive and coachable attitude, and maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience
  • Trade Certification as a licensed Industrial Mechanic Millwright
  • Proficiency in root cause failure analysis’
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings
  • Experience completing tasks related to repairs, overhauls, installations, dismantling, modifying, replacing, adjusting, testing, cleaning, lubricating and maintaining all types of plant and mine equipment and tools
  • Performs scheduled, emergency, and preventative maintenance in shop, plant, field, and underground
  • Inspects job site; makes field calculations and recommends repair or replacement of tools or equipment
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a definite asset.
  • Working at heights experience or the willingness to be trained
  • Experienced in heavy equipment operation
  • Ability to work underground and shift work
  • Experience in mining is preferred

Electricians

ELECTRICIANS

Responsibilities:

The individuals selected for these positions will be expected to provide all facets of underground electrical construction services including strong installation, troubleshooting and repair skills. Ideal candidates will have sufficient experience in performing activities such as cable and primary switchgear and transformer installations, messenger cable installations, high voltage terminations, control wirings and 600V and 120V distributions.  Candidates will also be responsible for the maintenance of electrical mining equipment such as drill jumbos and mechanized bolters and will be required to keep sound records of work performed, organize materials, and assist in commission of projects.  Experience maintaining power supply to generators is a definite asset. These individuals will be expected to receive daily safety and work line-up from their immediate supervisor(s) and complete the daily line-up safely and on time.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid Construction and Maintenance 309a Electrical License
  • Be active with the Ontario College of Trades with membership in good standing

Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics

HEAVY DUTY EQUIPMENT MECHANICS

Responsibilities:

The individuals selected for these positions must be capable of providing a full range of mechanical functions including servicing, troubleshooting and maintaining motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner.  Candidates must also be able to follow daily lineups, execute scheduled work, troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures, order parts as required and maintain proficient service logs. Ideal applicants can execute strong diagnostic skills to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and illustrate commitment to safe, quality work. Applicants must be able to perform in a self-directed manner within a fast paced team environment in accordance with health and safety standards as well as manufacturer specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician License and have a valid Ontario College of Trades Membership; individuals holding a Truck and Coach Technician License may also be considered
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of field mechanical experience
  • Individuals with distinguished experience with maintenance on Jumbos and Bolters are preferred
  • Basic Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (U0000, U0001, U0002 & U0012) or equivalent provincial designation a definite asset

Welders

UNDERGROUND WELDERS

Responsibilities:

Required to hold a valid SMAW all position stick welding certification and are required to read and interpret blueprints, create a bill of material, gather necessary tools and determine welding processes as required. Additionally, welders are responsible for fabricating from drawings or create custom fabrications to fit field requirements and can use various tools such as torches, grinders and drill press.

Qualifications:

  • Must have Basic Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (U0000, U0001, U0002 & U0012) or equivalent provincial designation
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years welding experience, preferably underground
  • Distinguished experience with maintenance and installation of crushers, conveyors, grizzlies, chutes, feeders, non-electrical mine services etc. would be a definite asset

UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION MINERS

Responsibilities:

The individuals selected for these positions will be required to provide a full range of underground construction services.  Responsibilities include the completion of various construction tasks and candidates should have relevant experience with daily activities such as civil (forming and pouring concrete), structural (removal/installation of structural and plate steel) mechanical (removal/installation of piping etc) and millwright (crushers, motors, gear reducers etc.) operations.  Applicants must be capable of receiving daily safety and work line-ups from their immediate supervisor and complete the daily line-ups on time.

Qualifications:

  • Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core Program #770010 (U0000, U0001, U0002 & U0012) or equivalent provincial designation
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years underground construction experience

Jumbo Operators

JUMBO OPERATORS

Responsibilities:

The individuals selected for these positions will be expected to be experienced in the operation of an underground jumbo drill for the purposes of lateral, incline and decline ramp development.  In addition to being a Jumbo operator, the successful candidate will also be required to provide all other facets of underground development as maybe required from time to time for purposes of mining advance.  These duties could also include LHD operation, mechanized bolting, service advance and any other underground activity that may be required to complete the various projects. These individuals will be expected to receive daily safety and work line-up from their immediate supervisor(s) and complete the daily line-up safely and on time.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must possess their Full Common Core for Underground Hard Rock Miner (U0000 to U0012), or equivalent provincial designation

Job Description:

The individuals selected for these positions will be required to act as working supervisors for various underground mining and construction projects, directly reporting the their designated Site Superintendent.  Duties include providing daily safety briefings with their sub-ordinate crew, maintaining and enforcing safety on the job site at all times, providing safety and technical support to their crews, receiving daily shift line-ups from their respective Site Superintendent, providing crews with their individual daily line-ups, and assisting in job log entries and shift reports.

Job Qualifications:

  • Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining (Program #770121 or # 770120)
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant shifting experience in underground mining and construction, development and or production workings

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to encourage efficient and continuous operation of assets. This position is responsible for providing supervision to the mechanical team consisting of multi discipline trades personnel. Ensuring production and maintenance targets are met, safe execution of site mechanical maintenance plans and equipment repair are also necessary.
