Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Mining Engineering Technology or bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in a mining, industrial or construction environment is preferred

Industrial Millwright Mechanic

Ideal candidates must have the ability to install, troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment, as well as dismantle, overhaul, and re-assemble while adhering to all Health and Safety policies. Selected candidates will also keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed as well as parts and materials used and ordered as necessary. Applicants should have a strong work ethic with a positive and coachable attitude, and maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience
  • Trade Certification as a licensed Industrial Mechanic Millwright
  • Proficiency in root cause failure analysis
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings
  • Experience completing tasks related to repairs, overhauls, installations, dismantling, modifying, replacing, adjusting, testing, cleaning, lubricating and maintaining all types of plant and mine equipment and tools
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a definite asset.
  • Working at heights experience or the willingness to be trained
  • Experienced in heavy equipment operation
  • Ability to work underground and shift work
  • Experience in mining is preferred

Experience maintaining power supply to generators is a definite asset. Electrical Supervisors

ELECTRICAL SUPERVISORS

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, the Electrical Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to provide safe and efficient execution of electrical service, repairs and installations. Working with the maintenance stakeholders, this position is responsible for providing supervision to the electrical team consisting of licenced and apprentice personnel to ensure production and maintenance targets are met.  This role will plan, organize, and oversee day to day operations while working closely with the electrical superintendent to develop and manage sound electrical  workings safely and in accordance with company standards and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid Construction and Maintenance 309a Electrical License
  • Be active with the Ontario College of Trades with membership in good standing
  • 5 years of related experience, preferably in a supervisory role
  • Strong communication skills including oral and written
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound knowledge of primary mobile equipment maintenance and OEM specifications
  • Established background in mechanical equipment and working knowledge of electrical equipment are required

The individuals selected for these positions will ensure safe use of LHD and Haulage equipment and will be responsible for pre-operational circle checks of this equipment before use.  Other support duties such as operate and maintain ore chutes or conveyor systems to control flow of ore, operate construction equipment such as bulldozer, grader or backhoe to build and maintain underground passages and haulage ways.  These individuals will be expected to receive daily safety and work line-up from their immediate supervisor(s) and complete the daily line-up safely and on time.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess their Full Common Core for Underground Hard Rock Miner (U0000 to U0012), or equivalent provincial designation
  • Must have 2 years’ experience as an underground miner
  • Specialty Module(s) U0068 (a) or (b)and/or U0091 considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills

Duties include providing daily safety briefings with their sub-ordinate crew, maintaining and enforcing safety on the job site at all times, providing safety and technical support to their crews, receiving daily shift line-ups from their respective Site Superintendent, providing crews with their individual daily line-ups, and assisting in job log entries and shift reports.

Qualifications:

  • Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining (Program #770121 or # 770120)
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant shifting experience in underground mining and construction, development and or production workings
  • Distinguished development and construction experience is a definite asset
  • Willing and able to undergo pre-employment testing as a condition of employment
  • Must be open to working at any of the underground mine sites, across Sudbury, that Technica operates at

Mechanical Supervisors

MECHANICAL SUPERVISORS

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to encourage efficient and continuous operation of assets. This position is responsible for providing supervision to the mechanical team consisting of multi discipline trades personnel. Ensuring production and maintenance targets are met, safe execution of site mechanical maintenance plans and equipment repair are also necessary. The Mechanical Supervisor will also ensure day to day activities of maintenance employees are completed safely and in accordance with company standards and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Training or certification of Diploma of Collegial Studies
  • 5 years of related experience, preferably in a supervisory role
  • Strong communication skills including oral and written
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound knowledge of primary mobile equipment maintenance and OEM specifications
  • Established background in mechanical equipment and working knowledge of electrical equipment are required
  • Trained and Accredited in the Generic Supervisor Common Core Program (#770141)
