Underground Mechanics

Following recently awarded long term work in the Sudbury Basin; Technica Mining is seeking Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics with the following skills and experience to become long term members of our organization:

UNDERGROUND MECHANICS

Responsibilities:

The individuals selected for these positions must be capable of providing a full range of mechanical functions including servicing, troubleshooting and maintaining motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner.  Candidates must also be able to follow daily lineups, execute scheduled work, troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures, order parts as required and maintain proficient service logs. Ideal applicants can execute strong diagnostic skills to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and illustrate commitment to safe, quality work. Applicants must be able to perform in a self-directed manner within a fast paced team environment in accordance with health and safety standards as well as manufacturer specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician License and have a valid Ontario College of Trades Membership; individuals holding a Truck and Coach Technician License may also be considered
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of field mechanical experience
  • Individuals with distinguished experience with maintenance on Jumbos and Bolters are preferred
  • Basic Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (U0000, U0001, U0002 & U0012) or equivalent provincial designation a definite asset

MOBILE PLANNER

Following recently awarded long term work in the Sudbury Basin; Technica Mining is seeking a Mobile Planner with the following skills and experience to become a long term member of our organization:

MOBILE PLANNER

Responsibilities:

The individual selected for this position will be required to assure that all planning is carried out in a timely, logical, and safe manner, while ensuring job requirements are respected and necessary parts are ordered. The ideal candidate will be accountable for detailed maintenance planning, scheduling, and general workflow processes to maximize mechanical availability while achieving targets, and will develop daily, weekly, and monthly plans to effectively maintain the Technica’s equipment and general infrastructure. Strong communication skills are required when acting as an effective liaison with other departments, such as Materials Management and Mine operations to ensure compliance with the regulatory and preventative maintenance requirements. Applicants must also be able to perform in a self-directed manner while evaluating and maintaining parts to be put in inventory, and while updating maintenance manuals for each piece of equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance/mobile field; previous mobile equipment planning experience is an asset, preferably in a mine setting, Mechanical engineer or mechanical trade experience preferred
  • Proficiency in computer software using Microsoft Office and other CMMS software such as ViewPoint
  • Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude and an understanding of preventative maintenance
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret operations and repair manuals
  • Must work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possess a strong work ethic

Database Architect & Designer

Database Architect & Designer

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Technology, the Database Architect and Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining databases to meet structural business and programming applications. Supporting sound installation solutions, the Web Architect & Designer this position will be responsible for the design, testing, implementation and administration of interactive technology applications.  Further duties of the Database Architect & Designer include but are not limited to:

  • Determining structural database requirements through analyses of existing operations, applications, and programming
  • Creating database solutions by designing proposed systems in parameters of database structures, functional capabilities, security, back-up and recovery specifications
  • Designing and implementing database systems with optimum access techniques and in coordination of sound installation actions
  • Maintaining database performance by identifying and troubleshooting production and application complications; calculate optimum value parameters including; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases. completing maintenance; answering user questions
  • Preparing users through delivery of training and ongoing customer service
  • Providing database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Exercising experience and sound execution the following capacities; database design, security & management, data maintenance and technical zeal

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in similar discipline or applicable education
  • Integration knowledge of server, desktop and mobile applications
  • Knowledgeable in SQL and Oracle Database Design and Support, Crystal Reports, SSRS and other reporting platforms considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills including oral and written
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong client/customer service skills (positive and collaborative)

Web Developer

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Superintendent of Technology, the Web Developer is responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites. Execution of layouts and functions in accordance with client specifications to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design with clear navigation functionality is a central component of this position. Further duties of the web developer include but are not limited to:

  • Appling expertise to various technical scenarios through stakeholder communication and engagement
  • Planning and delivering software platforms used across multiple products and organizational units
  • Exercising knowledge and understanding of security principles across various E-Commerce applications
  • Displaying sound capacity to navigate through JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, Web Services (REST/SOAP) as well as multimedia content development
  • Demonstrating ability to work on multiple platforms including web programming, web user interface design, object-orientated design while maintaining security principles

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in similar discipline or applicable education

Grader Operators

Grader Operators

Responsibilities:

The Grader Operator, an integral part of underground operations, is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the grader for the purpose of levelling and maintaining underground road and travel ways. Performing both rough and fine grade finishing’s, the grader operator is required to precisely mix and spread materials for applications in accordance with safety and condition procedures.  Further, grader operators are responsible for applying dry and prep surfaces, constructing road surface to precise grade specifications and laying cold mix, shaving and scraping out old road surfaces.

Qualifications:

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience operating a Grader is required
  • Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings
  • Knowledge of grader and other heavy equipment
  • Knowledge road construction materials, construction processes and industry requirements
  • Understanding of computerized controls and electronics
  • Underground Common Core and Grader module required (U0022)

Underground Development Miners

Following recently awarded long term work in the Sudbury Basin; Technica Mining is immediately seeking individuals with the following qualifications and experience to become long term team members of our organization:

UNDERGROUND DEVELOPMENT MINERS

Responsibilities:

The individuals selected for these positions will be expected to provide all facets of underground mining development. They will be responsible for all development tasks and shall have sufficient experience with daily activities such as a range of LHD operation and mechanized bolting.  Other support duties such as mechanical installation(s) (installation and maintenance of air, water and ventilation) and ground support will also be required.  These individuals will be expected to receive daily safety and work line-up from their immediate supervisor(s) and complete the daily line-up safely and on time.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess their Full Common Core for Underground Hard Rock Miner (U0000 to U0012), or equivalent provincial designation
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years work experience
  • Must have U0018, U0089 or U0092 depending on equipment or specific task
  • Experience with either MacLean Series bolters or Atlas Copco Boltec are will be given top consideration

UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION MINERS

Responsibilities:

The individuals selected for these positions will be required to provide a full range of underground construction services.  Responsibilities include the completion of various construction tasks and candidates should have relevant experience with daily activities such as civil (forming and pouring concrete), structural (removal/installation of structural and plate steel) mechanical (removal/installation of piping etc) and millwright (crushers, motors, gear reducers etc.) operations.  Applicants must be capable of receiving daily safety and work line-ups from their immediate supervisor and complete the daily line-ups on time.

Qualifications:

  • Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core Program #770010 (U0000, U0001, U0002 & U0012) or equivalent provincial designation
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years underground construction experience
  • Distinguished experience with maintenance and installation of crushers, conveyors, grizzlies, chutes, feeders, non-electrical mine services etc. would be a definite asset.

SUPERVISORS – UNDERGROUND MINING AND CONSTRUCTION:

Job Description:

The individuals selected for these positions will be required to act as working supervisors for various underground mining and construction projects, directly reporting the their designated Site Superintendent.  Duties include providing daily safety briefings with their sub-ordinate crew, maintaining and enforcing safety on the job site at all times, providing safety and technical support to their crews, receiving daily shift line-ups from their respective Site Superintendent, providing crews with their individual daily line-ups, and assisting in job log entries and shift reports.

Job Qualifications:

  • Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining (Program #770121 or # 770120)
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant shifting experience in underground mining and construction, development and or production workings
  • Distinguished development and construction experience is a definite asset

Safety & Training Supervisors

Following recently awarded long term work in the Sudbury Basin; Technica Mining is seeking Safety & Training Supervisors with the following skills and experience to become long term members of our organization:

SAFETY & TRAINING SUPERVISORS

Responsibilities:

The individuals selected for these positions must be capable of providing a full range of coaching, auditing and reporting functions related to direction, expertise, and monitoring of compliance, policy requirements and expectations to further develop a positive safety culture.  Reporting directly to the Safety & Training Superintendent, the Safety & Training Supervisor works closely with JHSC representatives, site trainers, coordinators and superintendents to ensure that training needs and safety specifications are met. The duties of Safety & Supervisors include but are not limited to:

  • Performing audits at each mine site where work is being performed on safety systems and compliance on a regular basis
  • Providing leadership and technical support / expertise in the area of safety, training, legislation and emergency response
  • Establishing and monitoring site trainers and training programs
  • Auditing JHSC effectiveness and maintain compliance
  • Performing general orientations for new employees and assist in the interview and selection process as needed
  • Monitoring safety compliance in the workplace to relevant standards and regulations and prompts / leads appropriate corrective action as required
  • Providing analysis of injury / incident statistics and safety strategy compliance measurement statistics
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of accident / incident investigations and facilitating/assisting in risk assessments as required

Qualifications:

  • Competent computer skills including proficiency with Word, Excel (formulas), Outlook, internet navigation and good working knowledge of computerized systems
  • Strong communication skills including oral and written
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong client/customer service skills (positive and collaborative)
  • Ability to plan, organize and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be trained and accredited in Ontario’s Common Core for First Line Underground Mine Supervisor or equivalent provincial designation
  • Proficient knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants and modular training guidelines
  • Completion of the Practical Loss Control Leadership Program considered a definite asset
